MTP: Lindsey & Jarod Married @ Turning Stone

7.30.11 - Having someone to share the ups and downs with, someone who completes you, and someone to celebrate life every step of the way are some of the simple yet important values Lindsey and Jarod are bringing into their marriage. Lindsey is smart, driven, determined and persistent while Jarod is outgoing, hardworking, and knowledgeable about everything; great qualities of two wonderful people who make a solid - and super cute - couple! Having done an engagement session with these two awhile back, I was excited to see them again and be back at the Turning Stone. It was the perfect day for an outdoor ceremony on The Great Lawn and I have to give props to the bride and groom for orchestrating a comfortable amount of time for photos.

MTP: Lauri & Jonathan Engaged!

Loving this next couple for 2012 ~ Laurie & Jonathan ~ a recommendation from Laurie's brother, also a kickball teammate on a team I sponsor during the summers. These two met early on in college but it was years later they reconnected and have been inseparable since then! I met Laurie and Jonathan on his families property in Baldwinsville, property that Jonathan will inherit someday, where we took full advantage of the vast beauty; from the fields, sunflowers, to the garden and the roof top.

MTP: Amy & Lee Married @ Bayshore

7.29.11 - She was just 16 when he met her and the rest is history! Lee proposed outside the museum of Fine Art in Boston, MA while they were in town for Amy's graduate school interview, proposing that he would follow Amy anywhere she needed to go. How sweet?!?! While Amy and Lee started their lifetime of happiness years ago, these two celebrated their future together in Oswego, NY at Bayshore Grove where they luckily had a beautiful outdoor ceremony after the sky cleared from a rainy morning. As always, Bayshore makes for cool formals on the grounds, rocks and water and a red sky casted the perfect sunset for the bride and groom.

MTP: Katie & Brandon Married @ The Thousand Islands

7.16.11 - This Saturday was one of the hottest day I've ever shot in with temperatures lingering around 90 degrees! But it was cool to see my next couple tie the knot! Katie and Brandon celebrated their amazing connection in Alexandria Bay at Joey's Thousand Island Club, offering terrific views of the St. Lawrence River. Katie, Brandon, and their son Trey spend their summers up here as a family so this choice of venue is quite dear to representing the evolution of their relationship and love. It also served as a great weekend getaway for their family and friends!

MTP: Hard Work Pays Off

I am not someone to brag or boast but I've been very fortunate and lucky in life with good family and friends. Among the complexities of life, I've learned the value of patience, commitment, determination, and a hard days work to get to where I want to be. My journey started years ago and I'm happy to say that the trip is so worthwhile that I hope my ability to challenge myself, remain passionate about what I do, and grow as a professional will continue to evolve. This past weekend, I was so honored and happy to be featured in The Post Standard on an article about successful entrepreneurs.

I can honestly say that my business sense was shaped and enhanced by the "Entrepreneurs Bootcamp" I participated in at Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management and I'm forever grateful! It is a great place to be when you love what you do and it fuels your creativity and livelihood. I hope all of us can find that joy!

MTP: Emily & Kaelin Engaged

The other week while in Oswego at a baby shower, I wrapped in the engagement session of Emily and Kaelin; an adorable couple from out of town planning their Syracuse wedding. Not having met them prior to the session, we connected instantly and had a great time at some of my favorite locations: Fallbrook and Rice Creek Field Station. If I could have had my wedding during the wedding season, Fallbrook is hands down where I would have wanted to celebrate! Love it there! MTP: Shawna & Tony Engaged

She is fun, full of life and so sweet; he is creative and musically talented. I recently met up with my sisters childhood best friend, Shawna & her fiance, Tony for an engagement session at the Rock Quarry behind Syracuse University's South Campus. I have to give a shout out to Mabyn at Mabyn Ludke Photography for introducing this awesome location to me and many other photographers during an early summer shoot-out. This place has the best of both worlds - grunge and graffiti with nature-scapes around the next corner - which makes for a creative experience for me and cool photos for my couple! MTP: Rock Quarry Shoot-Out

Every once in a while, its important for me to participate in a photo-shoot that is purely inspirational - a time where I'm shooting just for me whether it be for personal growth, creatively challenging my comfort level, discovering new local gems, or re-engergizing for the full season ahead. With so many demands in running your own business, its not often these opportunities present themselves. This past May, that all changed thanks to the one and only, wonderfully talented and passionately devoted Mabyn Ludke of Mabyn Ludke Photography. Along with Shannon Lach, Wedding & Social Events Director with MarryMeNY, a division of The Events Company, these two creative geniuses orchestrated and designed an industrial and rustic themed shoot-out to inspire a community of local photographers. Former brides and grooms of Mabyn's wore their wedding attire and made great subjects as 8 photographers got their creativity on! While I was torn on whether or not to post photos from this shoot since they were purely for my own personal inspiration, I'm honored to be among fellow colleagues who can trust, share and inspire one another! So this is a thank you and tribute to what makes this field so awesome!

MTP: SUNY ESF Centennial

A few weeks ago I had a chance to spend time on campus at SUNY-ESF as I photographed their Centennial Celebration. This milestone hosted an outdoor cocktail hour on the quad and a Green Tie Dinner, named to honor the college's commitment to environmental stewardship, filled with great speakers, delicious food and confetti!! The energy and pride in this institution of higher education was pouring out everywhere! Check out SUNY ESF's website for a great photo gallery and details about the celebration! The Events Company did a wonderful job with design and decor too! The fabulous Floral Gardens provided all of the beautiful floral arrangements.

MTP: Dara & Rich @ Genesee Grande

With a fairly quiet 4th of July weekend, Dara and Rich were my Sunday wedding to celebrate our country's independence! Having met through a mutual friend, Dara and Rich's favorite qualities about each other is the way they love each other! How sweet is that? The bride and her girls got ready on the 5th floor of the Genesee Grande Hotel in a great suite which offers lots of space and light for toasts, lunch, detail shots and portraits! A sweet and lighthearted ceremony in the Tiffany Ballroom, officiated by Judge Jack Schultz, kicked off the day with a candlelit isle and string quartet to set the mood.

MTP: Molly & Jason @ Sherwood Inn

The groom is a college friend and the bride has a sweet beauty to her. Molly and Jason were married on the lawn at the Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, NY under a tent overlooking Skaneateles Lake. Chinese lanterns hung from the center of the tent and cascading flowers transformed a fountain the bride walked around for all her guests to see. A beautiful sand ceremony boasting SU colors, orange and blue, started with the mother's pouring sand followed by the bride and groom. We walked across the street for pictures at the park along the lake then retreated inside for their reception, where great toasts, good food, lots of laughs and a cotton candy machine rounded out the day. The groom and his fraternity brothers also reunited to their frat song, The Safety Dance like the good 'ole days!

MTP: Emily & Tim Married @ The Lodge

We are lucky if in this lifetime, we spend it with our best friend. Emily and Tim's journey together started back in 1999 and are continuing on this path after their beautiful wedding day in Central New York. These lovebirds live in Boston, MA where Tim proposed along the Charles River, over sunshine, people-watching, and dessert! Filled with details, personal and sentimental throughout the day, Emily tied her father's high school ring to her bouquet to have him near her today and Emily's necklace held her mom's engagement diamond. The brides dress was full of personality and class with crazy ruffles everywhere complimented by fabulous purple heals. After an intimate ceremony, the bride and groom exited into a sea of rice thrown (not tossed) at them! It was quite the moment and fun trying to pick out rice from the brides hair afterwards. They took it in stride which is my kind of couple! As if the day couldn't get any better, we stopped at Gannon's where the entire bridal party were treated by the bride and groom to ice cream before reaching The Lodge (I must admit it was refreshing! Thanks again!!).

Nikki and Matt are the 'live in the moment' kind of couple. Their energy was fun and I loved the relationship we established, after a previous awesome engagement session that totally helped set the tone for their wedding day! Props must be given to the bride and groom for planning a great celebration; the flow of the day was awesome and really makes my job a blast. Kudos!!!

MTP: Erin & Chris Married @ The Lodge

The celebration of Erin and Chris's love this weekend in Skaneateles, NY was elegant, classic and timeless! There was such a sense of history, quality and detail with this entire day, literally and figuratively. High school sweethearts, these two had a depth to their relationship that was evident before they both saw each other at the end of the isle. I have been so excited for this wedding since their engagement session with me last summer on one of their trips to camp on Owasco Lake. I just knew they were going to be a favorite couple of my 2011 season. I was not disappointed!

A First Class Bash

Music at your wedding is a key facet of your event. It adds a whole other dimension to your ceremony and reception. For an elegant touch, you should consider an orchestra or band. They can provide the traditional sounds of instruments such as a piano, flute, or violin. You can specifically choose songs that have a personal meaning, and when sung by a talented singer like Maria DeSantis of Maria DeSantis Music, the song will begin to take on a whole new form.

MTP: Engagement Sessions Are Key To Your Wedding Day

One of the many things I love is having the opportunity to photograph my brides and grooms before their wedding day. Engagement sessions are an awesome way to get to know one another more, experience the pace of my photography style, practice some posing, get comfortable and just relax. These sessions also build trust; after seeing their e-session photos, couples are even more excited for their wedding pictures and have direct, hands-on confidence that I will help make them look and feel great. Couples can share what they like and don't like in regards of posing which I make note of and incorporate into their wedding day. There are tons of great locations through out the Central New York region and I'm happy suggest places or you are welcome to share a place that has sentimental value to you. You can have fun, be creative, reflect your style as a couple, and bring props if your heart desires! Either way, consider having an engagement session done with your photographer before your big day!

"All gave some. Some gave all." Memorial Day Weekend was a great time to honor to those with loved ones who have served our country and those who continue to.

Perfectly fitting, I photographed the laid back wedding of Kristina and Art on May 28, 2011, which was rescheduled from last year because of his military commitments. So this long-time coming celebration came at the right time!
